- I use an old A500 with an accelerator at home. Each time I download anything
- with Z-modem or FTP, I get serial hardware data overrun errors when the
- download buffers are flushed to disk - and when any kind of disk activity
- happens. Is there anything I can do to minimize the risk for transfer errors?
-
- I am using a GVP Series II HC8 controller for the A2000 as HD controller,
- Term 3.5, 8n1.device, xprzmodem.library, RTS/CTS handshaking, a VXL-30
- accelerator with 2Mb ram, and 2 Mb fast ram located in a SupraRAM expansion.
-
- The modem is a Zyxel U1496E+, and I have been set the serial to everything
- from 14k4 to 76k8, with and without compression.
-
- I use full overscan (728*566) in 4 colours on my screen. Will reducing
- overscan help?
-
- Is there another, better, serial device available? Should I change transfer
- protocol? Anything else I have forgotten?
-
- Setting the serial buffers can of course help, but I have them at 128Kb by
- now, and my RAM is limited. Even if I might set the buffers
- to 1 MB or more, I would still be unable to use my computer when downloading,
- as any background disk-activity causes transfer errors.
